Closings, cancellations in Collier County before storm | #oscars | #academywards


As Hurricane Ian approaches the west coast of Florida, organizations and events are being cancelled.

Here’s a list:

Collier County public schools:

Closed effective Tuesday.

Naples Senior Center:

5025 Castello Drive, will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Tourist Development Council: 

Collier County’s tourism bureau canceled Wednesday’s annual Star Awards industry recognition event. “With the storm, there is just too much going on,” said Paul Beirnes, the county’s tourism director. He shared the news at a TDC meeting Monday. A new date for the event — described as the Academy Awards for the county’s tourism industry — has yet to be chosen.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office:

Open house and recruitment fair originally set for Wednesday is canceled. The Communications Center Open House is now from 2 to 6  p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the fourth floor of the county building, 8075 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples.
