The actor, who rose to fame with Begusarai, became an overnight star with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Playing the new lead post-Hina Khan’s exit, the actor’s stint ended on the Star Plus show last year. While there was a loud buzz that she quit the show, the actor confessed that wasn’t the case. In a chat with Indian Express, Shivangi said, “I did not leave the show. The makers planned a lead and they had to do this. Meanwhile, popular singing reality show Indian Idol is set to be back on television. Sony TV, has announced season 13 via an Instagram post. Also, ditching online auditions this year, the selection process will go on-ground. Their video had a caption that read, “Indian Idol coming soon…be ready!” In the video, visuals of the last three winners — Salman Ali, Sunny Hindustani, and Pawandeep Rajan are played. The voiceover says that this time the trophy could be yours, before stating that auditions are set to kickstart soon in cities near to them.
Indian Idol launched in 2004 with Abhijeet Sawant winning the first season. Over the years, the show has found a cult status among upcoming singers.”
“In other news, Bobby Deol is all set to return as ‘Bhagwan’ Baba Nirala in Prakash Jha-directed MX Player series Aashram Season 3.
Ahead of its premiere, the makers shared a behind-the-scenes video of the show, in which Bobby speaks at length about the character arc of ‘Bhagwan’ Baba Nirala, audience’s reaction to his character, and his experience playing the self-proclaimed godman. In the video, Bobby said, “I really enjoyed playing my character this time, even more than last time, because you see him losing his control, his grip over what he is, and showing the real side of himself, of what he really wants.””
Following up on Aashram, Bobby Deol as Baba Nirala has made his way into our living rooms with his ‘Japnaam’ over the last two years. The point to note is, whether or not he’s a true godman or a conman — the basic premise of MX Player’s hit web show Aashram. The series not just gave Bobby’s career a new lease, but also cemented the streaming platform’s position in the OTT race.
Aashram, directed by Prakash Jha, is set to release its season three on June 3. The sci-fi series, created by the Duffer Brothers, returned to the streamer after a gap of three years with seven episodes. The second volume is set to release on July 1 with two episodes. All four seasons of Stranger Things made it back into Netflix’s Top 5 titles for the week of May 23-30. Taking the No. 3 spot with 28 million hours viewed was Season 1 of Stranger Things, which first crept back into the Top 10 last week as fans rewatched the series in preparation for Season 4.
