Jimmy Kimmel, who earlier this month returned to his ABC late-night show after a week off due to contracting COVID-19, has been infected with the virus once more.
“I’m such a positive person, I tested positive AGAIN,” he wrote on social media Tuesday evening. “I am feeling fine,” the host, 54, assured, adding that scheduled guests John Mulaney and Andy Samberg “have graciously agreed to host … for me” on Wednesday night, with actor Cheryl Hines and musical guest Gang of Youths featured.
Comic Kathy Griffin tweeted in response to Kimmel’s illness, “Oh no. Ughhhhhh. Feel better James and [wife and “Kimmel” co-head writer] Molly McNearney and famileeeee.”
At the Disney/ABC upfront in New York on Tuesday, Kimmel appeared via remote video, said The Hollywood Reporter, and joked to the audience of advertisers, “We just want you to spend your money with us, and if you don’t, I will have died of COVID for no reason.” Scheduled guests on Thursday’s “Kimmel” are actors Milo Ventimiglia and Jessie Buckley, with the band Franz Ferdinand as musical guest. Friday is radio and TV personality Ryan Seacrest and actor Joe Keery, with musical guest Train.
