The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was organised after three years following the emergence of coronavirus. The Daily Show Host Trevor Noah took the stage and ridiculed the disgraceful physical altercation at the 94the Academy Awards this year.
In March, during Hollywood’s biggest ceremony, star Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock as the latter mocked his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head since she is suffering from alopecia which is a medical condition involving hair loss. The joke didn’t went well with “The Pursuit of Happyness” actor who also shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*****g mouth”.
In his monologue, Trevor Noah said that the incident involving Chris Rock and Will Smith had changed humour forever, telling, “It is risky making jokes these days. I mean, we all saw what happened at the Oscars. I’ve actually been a little worried about tonight. What if I really make a mean joke about Kellyanne Conway and then her husband rushes up on the stage and thanks me?”
In the meantime, Will Smith got banned from attending the Academy Awards for the next ten years, the decision follows widespread public outcry demanding some form of disciplinary action against the “I Am Legend” star. Before getting barred, Will also resigned from the Academy and apologised to Chris by releasing a statement on his offical Instagram account.
